Automatic gun 2A38M is intended to destroy air targets at low altitudes (from 200 to 2,000 m) and at a slant range of up to 4,000 m during antiaircraft defense of tank and motorized-rifle regiments as well as to destroy ground targets.
2A38M FEATURES:
- Two barrels firing in turn. It helps to achieve fast rate of fire from 1,950 to 2,500 rds/min;
- Self-contained evaporative barrel cooling system requiring low consumption of drinking water;
- Initial velocity inductive sensor increases accuracy of the automatic gun firing;
- Front position sensor on a signal of which the automatic gun readiness to fire (position of gun mount movable parts) is determined and remaining cartridge counter operates;
- Pyrotechnic charging system with three squibs to remove stoppages of misfire type.
