The 30-mm automatic gun is intended to neutralize or destroy tank hazardous manpower at ranges up to 1,500 m, to hit lightly armoured targets at ranges up to 2,000 m and also to fight helicopters at ranges up to 4,000 m.
Operation of the gun automatic gear is based on use of recoil energy of the barrel during its long travel, which reduces gas contamination in the fighting compartment of the carrier, on which the gun is installed, and also action of the powder gases on the crew.

The gun reliably operates within the temperature range of –50°C to +50°C, under conditions of rain, dust and icing, provided the requirements specified in the Operating Instructions are observed.
The gun is mounted on infantry fighting vehicles BMP-3, armoured personnel carriers BTR-80A, reconnaissance vehicles BRM-3K and may be installed on the other objects. |
